King’s Mill Hospital serves Mansfield and Ashfield and is run by Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The same trust runs Newark Hospital and Mansfield Community Hospital, which is useful for a practical reason: we already support discharges from Newark Hospital, so the paperwork, the discharge teams and the way care is handed over are familiar to us.

Adult social care in Mansfield is Nottinghamshire County Council, not Mansfield District Council. The district council handles housing, bins and planning. Care assessments, funding and social workers all sit with the county.

Care is exempt from VAT under the welfare services rules. The client provides the carer’s room and shares meals, so there is no separate accommodation charge. Break cover, where it is needed, is an additional charge confirmed at assessment alongside the weekly figure.

Employed, not introduced
Search live-in care in Mansfield and most results fall into two groups.
Introductory agencies match you with a self-employed carer and charge for the introduction. Several of the biggest live-in brands work this way and are not registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide personal care themselves.
Franchise branches trade under a national name. Each is a separate business with its own owner and its own CQC rating, so the rating on the national website may not belong to the branch that would send someone.
