Accessibility statement
Our commitment
Helping at Home is committed to making helpingathome.co.uk accessible to as many people as possible. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
This website was built with accessibility in mind from the start: semantic HTML, visible focus indicators, keyboard-navigable navigation, appropriate colour contrast, and a skip-to-content link on every page.
How accessible this website is
We know some people will need to use the site in different ways. This website should be fully usable when you:
- Change browser font size or zoom to 200%
- Navigate using a keyboard only (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, Arrow keys)
- Use a screen reader such as VoiceOver, NVDA, or JAWS
- Use a display with high contrast mode enabled
- Have motion sensitivity — animations and transitions are suppressed when you have "Reduce Motion" enabled in your operating system
Known issues
We are aware of one accessibility issue we are actively working to resolve:
- Video captions — timing accuracy: The videos on our Jobs and Family Updates pages include captions, but the timing of some captions does not accurately match the spoken audio. We are working to re-sync these against the final video cuts. This affects WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.2.2 (Captions — Prerecorded).
If you find any other issues not listed here, please tell us using the contact details below.
